Potter hole-in-one, women's, Friday play at Country View

Brooks — The following is news from the Country View Golf Club:

On Saturday, June 29, Don Potter of Morrill recorded his first career hole-in-one, as it came on the 125-yard, par-3 fourth hole. He used a 7-iron for his tee shot, witnessed by Linda Potter.

On Thursday, June 27, in the weekly women's league scramble, first went to the trio of Donna Short, Henna Smith and Susan Hart, while second went to Jean Raven, Judy Arsenault and Donna Nason. The pin winners were: Donna Short, 33-9 on the fourth hole; and Nancy Carney, 18-6 on the ninth. Participants enjoyed play and the club looks to increase the league's numbers. Play begins at 9 a.m. on Thursdays.

On Friday, June 28, Friday league play began as Gary Snowden took first at +6, Ken Hodgdon second at +2, while third went to Wayne Merrifield at even, followed by Mike Cunningham at -2 and Vince Bryant at -3. Pin winners were: Gary Snowden, 8-6 on the fourth; and Wayne Merrifield, 9-5 on the ninth.

The group looks for additional golfers to play, which uses the modified Stableford handicap scoring system. Play will continue for 15 weeks with a champion honored at the end of the season. There will be a postseason dinner for participants.

Golfers are reminded to "save the date" for the annual Country View "Scramble for the Club" tournament on Saturday, Sept. 7. The event provides a fun day golf with prizes and food.
