Printmaking workshop at Waterfall Arts

Nov 01, 2013
Shawn Brewer

Belfast — Waterfall Arts, 256 High St., will offer a new printmaking workshop Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop is led by Shawn Brewer, a recent graduate of the Maine College of Art and creator of Fast Food Prints, a mobile printmaking studio.

The Screen Printing without a Darkroom workshop introduces methods of screen printing that do not require a dark room, exposure unit or photo-sensitive emulsion. Although the primary use of screen printing is using emulsion and positive-films, Brewer will focus on alternative methods of silk-screening or serigraphy.

The workshop will increase understanding of screen printing as a means of creating monotypes that consist of more painterly marks and dynamic layering of different squeegee and inking techniques and stencils.
