Hello there, Prospect! After a long silence, we finally have an article writer for the town. I could never hold a candle to our Barbara Tilley, but I will do what I can.

True, I am not a resident of Prospect but I am a servant to it and feel more a part of this community than the one I live in. No hard feelings, Belfast! Also if there is anything Prospect residents think is worth mentioning for the paper, I would love to hear from you. So stop into the Town Office and visit me or email me at prospecttowndeputy@fairpoint.net.

That being said, we have much going on in the month of April! Community suppers will be starting back up Saturday, April 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Community Club. It is $8 for adults and $2 for children. Come on out and meet your neighbors!

I would like to remind folks of the upcoming town election Friday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town Office. We are voting for one selectman and one road commissioner. Clayton Emery is the only candidate running for selectman. Elwin Boynton and Harland Gamble Sr. are both running for the spot of road commissioner.

Town meeting date is set for the following day, Saturday, April 21, at 9 a.m. If there are any willing Republicans out there who would be interested in helping out with counting ballots for future elections, I will gladly take your names and numbers. Ballot clerks are paid minimum wage per hour and sometimes we have doughnuts! If that doesn’t sell it to you, then I do not know what will.

Jill has been working diligently on her pieces for the Town Report as apparent from all the sweat, bloody paper cuts, and grumbling about format coming from across the office. I am kidding; she loves it. We think they will be available by April 17.

Spring cleanup is right around the corner. I know everyone is antsy for good weather. There has been an influx of trailer registrations and people stopping by to find out when cleanup will be. We have the day set for Saturday, May 26. Have your stuff curbside for 7 a.m.! If you need to know what is OK to put out and what isn’t, come by and pick up a flyer or trash disposal packet!

I would like to say congratulations to Heather Boyer on her new baby, Penelope! She is a doll. Also we give a warm welcome to all the newbies who have taken up residence in Prospect over the last fall through spring. We hope you find our town as wonderful as we do.
