Prospect News

By Jamie Orestis

The town of Prospect has been having a little bit of bad luck. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10 and 11, the office was closed due to our water not working. After some digging and troubleshooting, nothing was resolved. Unfortunately our pipes seem to just be sucking in muddy sediment instead of water. So we wait for the plumbers. Hopefully the issue will be resolved before town voting day!

For any high school seniors out there looking for community service hours, we have a variety of groups looking for help.

The Prospect Community Club could use help at the community dinner nights washing dishes and cleaning up. Interested parties should call Linda Gamble at 567-3615.

The Fire Department seeks volunteers for doing some general chores. Call Chief Tim Terry at 567-3621.

The Cemetery Maintenance Crew could use some help with raking, pulling weeds, and general pickup of the cemetery and memorial. Call Dotie Webster 567-3593.

Currently our Planning Board is in need of one full-time member. They meet on the second Thursday once a month at the Town Office at 7 p.m. Another town position we are in great need for are Fire Department volunteers. We offer a $500 yearly stipend to volunteers who complete training and show up for calls. Interested parties should contact Fire Chief Tim Terry at 567-3621. You can also contact him for burn permits at this number.

We would like to give a great big congratulations to Clayton Emery on making captain of the Fire Department! He is also running for the open spot for selectman. Town voting is Friday, April 20, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town Office. Running for road commissioner are Elwin Boynton and Harland Gamble Sr.

Town meeting is Saturday, April 21, at 9 a.m. in the Fire House, as usual.
