Since the snow is flying, I thought I would take some time to remind everyone that the salt and sand for Prospect residents is now located behind the Town Office building. The limit is two 5-gallon buckets per snowstorm per household.

We do have snowmobile stickers available. The current cost for re-registering your snowmobile is $46. Please remember that we accept cash or check only.

The Community Center will be holding a children’s Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 8, from noon to 2 p.m. There will be crafts, caroling, toys for all and an appearance from Santa. There will be a free store for kids to pick out gifts for their family and volunteers to help them with free gift wrapping. Donations and volunteers still needed. Call Linda Gamble, 567-3615.

Nomination papers are available for one selectman position and for road commissioner. Papers are due back at the office by close of business Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019.  There is a requirement for 25 signatures of registered voters in Prospect to get on the ballot for the town election in March.

We are still in need of one appointed Appeals Board member. For more information, please contact us at 567-3661.

The Waldo County Humane Society will be holding a rabies clinic Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Burnham Municipal Building, 247 Horseback Road, from 9 to 11 a.m., free for Waldo county residents; donations accepted. Dog tags are available for 2019. Registrations should be done by the end of December. The $25 fee starts Feb. 1, 2019.

The Down East Family YMCA in Ellsworth is free to all Prospect residents on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. The Bucksport facility is free for the emergency workers of Prospect only. The Bucksport YMCA hours are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to noon.
