The Community Center will be holding a children’s Christmas party next weekend on Saturday, Dec. 8, from noon to 2 p.m. There will be crafts, caroling, toys for all and an appearance from Santa. There will be a free store for kids to pick out gifts for their family and gift wrap available.

The Town Office will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 25, for Christmas Day and will reopen for regular business hours Wednesday, Dec. 26. The last working Friday of the year the Town Office will be closing at 2 p.m. for end-of-year processing. Jill and I will still be in the office but this is where we update our computer systems so we will not be able to process any transactions, hence the reason for the closure. Please plan accordingly.

The last day for dog registrations will be Friday, Dec. 28, before our closing time of 2 p.m. Please have rabies certificates on hand. The next free rabies clinic will be Dec. 8 at the Burnham Municipal Building, 247 Horseback Road, from 9 to 11 a.m. Free for Waldo county residents; donations accepted.

The back door on the Town Office now has a handicap ramp available for all people in need. We leave the back door unlocked during business hours for any who wish to use it, especially individuals with handicaps. The service counter by the back door is actually lower than the front counter, which might help for any who need to be seated during a transaction.

We are still seeking an Appeals Board member, which is an appointed position. Offices coming up for election in March are one selectmen and the road commissioner. Please inquire with us at the Town Office if you are interested.
