I have to correct some previous information about the salt and sand pile. It is now located behind the Town Office building and the correct amount that residents are allowed have is two 5-gallon buckets per day per household. Before I had said per storm but that was incorrect.

Snowmobile stickers are available. A re-registration typically costs $46. New 2019 dog tags are available as well. Dog registrations are due by the end of December. The extra $25 late fee kicks in the first of February.

If you are in need and qualify for heating assistance, there are a few programs I think are worth a mention. Prospect has a heating assistance program called Community Concerns; for more information or assistance you can call Barbara Tilley at 567-3267. WCAP also has the HEAP program to help with home heating costs; call 1-800-498-3025. WCAP also has Energy Crisis Intervention, which is for emergency assistance, at the same number.

We are still seeking an Appeals Board member, which is an appointed position. Offices coming up for election in March are one selectmen and one road commissioner. Nomination papers are available now at the Town Office. In order to get on the March ballot, you need 25 signatures of registered voters residing in Prospect. Nomination papers are due back on Tuesday, Jan. 29, by 7 p.m.

The Town Office will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 25, for Christmas Day. On Friday, Dec. 28, the Town Office will be closing at 2 p.m. for end-of-year processing. On Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, the Town Office will be closed for New Year’s Day.

The selectmen will hold the first selectmen’s meeting of the New Year on Jan. 3, 2019, at 6 p.m., followed by a public hearing for the extension of the mining moratorium at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, the 29th of January, will be our annual budget meeting at the Town Office at 7 p.m.

Lastly, we would like to say happy holidays to everyone and thank and congratulate all the new Fire Department volunteers!
