Hello everyone,

I hope you are all staying warm!

Our annual budget meeting was held Jan. 30 in the Town Office. It lasted about two hours and had very few in attendance. The next selectmen’s meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. The next Planning Board meeting will be Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m.

The Community Center hosts coffee time every Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m., weather permitting, and all are welcome. Other than that, there are no upcoming events at the center.

If anyone is looking for heating assistance, there are some really great programs available. Prospect has its own program called Community Concerns. For more information, give Barbara Tilley a call at 567-3267. WCAP has the HEAP program to help with home heating costs; call 1-800-498-3025. WCAP also has Energy Crisis Intervention, which is for emergency assistance at the same number.

Ernie at the Stockton Springs American Legion has donated some clothing, toys and other items to the town of Prospect. Any who are in need should stop by and take a look at the selection during regular office hours. I will have the items on hand for a couple of weeks; then I am thinking we might donate any leftover items to the Prospect Community Center for any of their future events.

We still have plenty of those hand-knitted hats and mittens for free, as well.

I received an email this past week from Patricia Snyder, an AARP tax coordinator. If you need to file your taxes, Carver Memorial Library in Searsport offers free e-filings on Wednesdays; call 548-2303 to set up an appointment. Stockton Springs Community Library offers their free e-filings on Saturdays; call 505-0778 or 567-313 for an appointment.

Update on my previously published column: I would like to apologize for the inconsistency in producing this column. I will be continuing to write the town column, but my contributions will be probably twice a month instead of weekly. This is not just for work-related reasons, but because of lack of activity to write about. Any who have information to submit for me to write into the column, please contact me at prospecttowndeputy@fairpoint.net.

Thank you to everyone who contributed information to my columns in the last year. For updates on Prospect, in addition to this column, you can check the town’s Facebook page at facebook.com/townofprospectmaine.org or our website, prospectmaine.org. Regular updates on meetings are typically posted right on our office front door.
