Public Supper to Benefit Meals on Wheels

Looking for a great home-cooked meal complete with fellowship?  Look no further.  Aldersgate United Methodist Church, located on Rt. 17 across from Lake Chickawaukie, will be holding a public supper on April 25 at 5 pm, complete with good food and conversation.  Adults $7.50, children $5.00.  Proceeds will benefit MCH (Making Communities Happen) Meals on Wheels.

MCH Meals on Wheels delivers approximately 110 hot, nutritious meals five days a week to the doorstep of older adults and disabled individuals throughout Knox County.  Their volunteer drivers provide daily contact for many seniors, an important safety net enabling them to remain independent in their own homes.  MCH operates this federal program through a subcontract with Spectrum Generations, the local Area Agency on Aging.

This partnership between Meals on Wheels and the Aldersgate UMC is a long standing one.  Meals on Wheels, in this area, began with the United Methodist Women from Pratt Memorial UMC, now Aldersgate UMC.  Aldersgate remains committed to quality of life for seniors.  “In a society that places primary emphasis upon youth, those growing old in years are frequently isolated from the mainstream of social existence. We support social policies that integrate the aging into the life of the total community, …urge social policies and programs, …that ensure to the aging the respect and dignity that is their right as senior members of the human community.” (Social Principles of the United Methodist Church, 2012)  Please, join Aldersgate UMC in showing our support for seniors and Meals on Wheels.

A representative from Meals on Wheels will be present at the supper on April 25 to provide information and answer questions.

Bring your appetite, and a friend.  See you there!
