Ram men finish three-victory season

Engel keys Rams in points, rebounds

Unity — The Unity College men’s basketball team, under the leadership of coach Bob Witts, experienced a tough 2018-19 campaign on the court as the Rams finished with a 3-16 record.

Team members included Adam Merrill, Wyatt Michaud, Kyle Rigney, Ethan Bender, Den Suehiro, Jacob Hornbrook, Franesco Guerrero, Hunter Engel, Alex Mattson, Jeff Aeschlimann, Trevor Maloney, Dan Maxfield and Sam Napper.

The Rams were 3-13 in conference, 1-7 at home and 2-9 on the road. Unity averaged 68.4 points, 30 rebounds and 12.8 assists.

Unity College competes in the Yankee Small College Conference, a Division II conference in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.

Two of Unity’s three victories on the campaign were against Hampshire College of Amherst, Mass. — 76-45 home win on Sunday, Nov. 4 and 76-71 road win on Sunday, Dec. 2 — while the Rams also posted an 86-60 road win against the University of Maine at Augusta on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

The Rams fell to NHTI of Concord, N.H. 102-81 in the YSCC quarterfinals on Saturday, Feb. 16.

Engel led the Rams as he averaged 20.1 points and 5.4 rebounds.
