Montville — ReVision Energy, a growing player in the solar energy market in New England, has announced plans to expand to a new, more visible location on Routes 3 and 220 in Montville.

The larger facility will accommodate warehousing, office and showroom space, as well as more parking for the company's expanding vehicle fleet.

Branch Manager John Luft said ReVision closed on the property March 5, and construction and relocation are pending approval by the Montville Planning Board.

The new location will be on a 5.1-acre parcel that abuts Route 220 on the northwest side and Route 3 on the south, with options for entrances on both. The Route 3 entrance would be across from Maritime Energy.

The land has been on the market for five or six years, according to one of the previous owners.

Luft said ReVision has "totally outgrown" its current space, a short distance away in Liberty.

When the company began in 2003, combining a renewable division of The Green Store in Belfast and Energy Options in Liberty as Energyworks, Luft said there were six employees. Currently the company has 48 employees at the Liberty branch.

"We started to look at our new expanded staff," he said, "and thought, 'how do we get more physical space for a warehouse?'"

The new location will offer a lot more room, and it will keep the company local, Luft said, adding, "which is important."

"It also won't affect the employee commute," he said. The current location is less than a mile away at 91 W. Main St. in Liberty.

Asked if new jobs would be added at the larger location, Luft said, "As the industry allows — we are leaving room for growth."

Ideally the company would like to move to the new location by fall. "I'm optimistic about the future," Luft said.

Montville Planning Board is scheduled to consider ReVison's application Wednesday, March 18, at 7 p.m. at the Town Office.
