Belfast — Sarah E. Reynolds was named editor of The Republican Journal Oct. 14.

Reynolds is a longtime member of the Courier Publications family, and has served as social editor, copy editor and most recently assistant editor for The Courier-Gazette. She has also worked extensively with all of the Courier Publications newspapers, VillageSoup websites and staff.

Reynolds started with the company in 2005, previously writing for The Camden Herald and The Republican Journal, as well as the now-defunct Capital Weekly.

She started her journalism career in 1990 working for Worcester Business Journal. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College in Latin and English, and a master’s in English from Brandeis University.

She succeeds Stephanie Grinnell, who has served as editor of The Republican Journal, The Camden Herald and The Capital Weekly. In leaving, Grinnell said she is looking forward to working on her organic farm in Washington and she will probably be doing some freelance writing online in the near future.

Grinnell will be missed here at Courier Publications. She was instrumental in bringing back The Camden Herald, which had been closed prior to Reade Brower purchasing the company in 2012. Grinnell has provided leadership in the news department throughout her tenure.

The company is also announcing the hiring of Emma Testerman at The Courier-Gazette and The Camden Herald, where she is serving as copy editor.

Testerman was born and raised in Simsbury, Connecticut, but has visited Damariscotta and her grandparents in Jefferson since she was barely a toddler.

After graduating from Johnson State College with a BFA in creative writing, she immediately moved to Maine. Testerman has worked as an intern at two different literary magazines in Johnson, Vermont, before arriving in Knox County, called Pamplemousse and Green Mountains Review, both through her college. She also writes fictional fantasy books and runs an online digital art store.

As of now, Testerman is a published poet in Pamplemousse literary magazine and the Basement Medicine newspaper back in her hometown.
