Aug 12, 2019

Belfast — Regional School Unit 71 will celebrate the "substantial" completion of the Belfast Area High School renovation and construction project with a ribbon-cutting Monday, Aug. 26, from 1 to 2 p.m.

According to a press release from the superintendent's office, the ceremony will take place in front of the new wing, which is to the left of the high school entrance, past the pool and football field. After a short speech, there will be an ice-cream social, with a variety of frozen treats on hand under the canopy entrance to the school, as well as an open house for the newly renovated and constructed spaces within the school.

The $7.6 million project entailed renovation of the entrance, lobby, cafeteria, locker rooms, pool and home economics classroom, as well as construction of a new two-story wing to house the math department and special education classrooms.

The old special education wing was renovated and will house the district’s Central Office and Adult Education spaces.

All community members are cordially invited to attend.
