Rockland Kiwanis Meeting Minutes for June 23, 2014

President Katie Tarbox called the meeting to order and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Bill Batty, Jr. offered the invocation. Guests included Hanna and Kris from Youthlinks, and Leefe Temple.

Committee Reports
We received many thank you notes from scholarship recipients. Youthlinks/Broadreach received a check. Sell those Grand Raffle (GR) tickets.

Recognition of Members
President Tarbox sadly announced the passing of Al McNeilly. A contingent of members is planning on meeting at the Rockland Congregational Church at 12:40 tomorrow. Marjorie Kinney celebrates her anniversary with the club. Secret Greeter: Leefe Temple caught Keith Wass, Jim Heavey, Dan Saucier, Jane Thompson, and Carol Brown. Badges: Carol Brown and Broo Temple were without their. 50/50: Cliff Blastow won the 50/50, and Jane Dagley got the 2nd place prize. Famous rooster Foghorn Leghorn won the attendance award.

Shannon Kinney was happy to turn in a G/R ticket, and happy for a trip with her family to Hurricane Island. Jane Dagley was happy for Bobbie Wentworth, happy she bought three wedding dresses, happy for her daughter's birthday, happy to have her basal cell removed, happy to sell a G/R ticket, and happy to win second place in her age group in a 5k. Gordon Page was happy for the summer solstice celebration, and sad for Al McNeilly's passing. Broo Temple was happy for his family, and happy to be selling his house in Rockland. Cliff Blastow was happy to win the 50/50, happy Barbara Hanson traded tickets with him, and happy Sumner Kinney got "flocked." Jane Thompson was happy to sell a G/R ticket, and sad for Al McNeilly's passing. Marjorie Kinney was happy for the food wagon at the Relay for Life event, and happy for a trip to the island. Gerry Zwick was happy for his grandsons, and happy for his daughter. Ed Miller was sad for Al McNeilly. Katie Tarbox was sad for Al McNeilly, happy for a trip to New Harbor, happy for our guests, happy for some new chicks, and happy for our speaker.

Catherine Pease works at the Rockland Career Center and with the Aspire program. She talked about a new program, "Workers Inspired by Supportive Employers."
