Roles, practice for Winterport Nativity

Nov 06, 2018

Winterport — Children of all ages are invited to attend the Winterport Nativity role assignment and practice Sunday, Nov. 18, at 3 p.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 443 South Main St./Route 1.

This year, the Catholic church will be managing the pageant activities with Mark Fitzpatrick doing the organizing. Parents of children who cannot attend but would like a part should contact Fitzpatrick by email to fitz1357@roadrunner.com.

For the 51st year, members of the Winterport community, along with six local churches, will come together to bring this outdoor play to life. It is presented on the grounds of the historic Union Meeting House, at night, the weekend before Christmas. The streetlights are turned off and the Route 1A traffic is diverted.

The children of Winterport and surrounding communities are the actors; the only speaking part is the Narrator, an adult. The play is 12 minutes long and involves live animals. This year's pageant dates are Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15.
