RSU 3 towns pass school budget by 110 votes

Voters in Regional School Unit 3 towns passed the school district budget for fiscal year 2018 June 13 with a vote of 386 to 276.

The $20.65 million budget is up 1.95 percent from the current year. It received a majority of votes in all towns except Knox, Thorndike and Troy, and just barely, by only two votes each, in Unity and Montville.

The budget passed earlier in a preliminary vote at a public meeting attended by about 90 district residents May 24, with no changes to the Board of Directors' recommendations.
