RSU 71 board results and election night breakdown

Belfast — Voters on Nov. 7 re-elected two Regional School Unit 71 directors, Allison Goscinski and David Crabiel.

Goscinski ran unopposed and netted 1,825 votes. Crabiel's name didn't appear on the ballot, but he was re-elected with the largest share of the 146 write-in votes cast in the city. City officials could not immediately provide the number of votes cast for Crabiel.

In other city elections, Samantha Paradis defeated five-term Mayor Walter Ash, 1,234 to 962. Ash won his home district, Ward 5, but lost in the combined tallies of Wards 1 and 2, and Wards 3 and 4.

City Councilors Eric Sanders of Ward 3 and Mike Hurley of Ward 4 were both re-elected in uncontested races. Both are currently finishing fourth terms.

City officials will be sworn in Monday, Nov. 13, at City Hall. As of Nov. 8, the time of the ceremony had not been scheduled.
