Ruggedly Handsome Cat Announces Support for PMHS Tail-a-Thon

Appreciation for the work of staff and volunteers at Pope Memorial Humane Society prompts a former resident to send his thanks in time for the inaugural PMHS Tail-a-Thon on August first.

Mr. Maurice was brought to the shelter by a man in blue when his human was admitted to the hospital. He wasn’t allowed to be adopted until a certain amount of time had passed and it became clear his human couldn’t continue to care for him.

The orange and white polydactyl feline appreciates the expertise and attention given him while he resided at the shelter on Buttermilk Lane, first in one of the healthy hold rooms and then in a condo. With a physique reminiscent of Churchill, Mr. Maurice preferred his multilevel condo.

Now a resident of Warren, Mr. Maurice considers his time at the shelter a necessary step on his road to his current home, where he is appropriately pampered. As a diabetic, he is on the receiving end of much hovering by his new human and graciously undergoes periodic ear pricks to monitor his glucose levels. His expert up-close-and-personal supervision of the chipmunks at his new home has decreased the time the rodents spend near the front door.

Through his agent, Mr. Maurice sends his thanks to PMHS staff and volunteers and encourages support of the Tail-a-Thon. He also conveys his best wishes to all the pets at the shelter and hopes they are soon as fortunate as he is in finding a loving home.

Serving mid-coast Maine, Pope Memorial Humane Society cares for and places unwanted and abandoned animals in loving homes. Programs also promote responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of all animals.
