Ryder Cup, twilight, scotch, women's play at Northport GC

Northport — The following is news from the Northport Golf Club:

On Sunday, June 28, in Ryder Cup play, for men, Ian Sady and Duke Marston finished first at 57; Bob Delio and Greg McDaniel, second at 64; Scott Bartlett and Keith Parker, along with Cory Chase and Bill Farris, tied third at 65; Mike Knox and Cecil Eastman, along with Terry Whitney and Peter Hodgkins, tied fifth 66; and Preston Ward and Jeff Dutch, along with Tim Riley and Dave Wentworth, and Scott Benzie and Slim Peaslee, tied sixth 67.

For women, Lisa Desmarteau and Brenda Barrett finished first at 65; Lisa Chase and Megan Farris, second at 67; and Sue Hodgkins and Roxie Whitney, third at 69.

On Thursday, June 25, in scotch foursome play, Mike Webber and Pat Webber finished first gross 40; John Sapoch and Jamie Sapoch, second gross 41; Bob Barrett and Brenda Barrett, first net 29; Dan Eaton and Leslie Eaton, as well as Frank Field and Shirley Caler, tied second net 31.

In women's play, Jenna Caler finished first gross 42; Brenda Barrett, first net 36; and Annie Pickford, second net 39.5. Brenda Barrett and Jenna Caler finished with the fewest putts at 14.

On Wednesday, June 24, in twilight league play, for Class A, Kevin Dains finished first gross 38; Preston Ward, second gross 40; Terry Whitney, third gross 41; Kevin Nickerson, first net; Paul Doody, second net 36; and Rick Cronin, third net 38.

For Class B, Chad Otis finished first gross 46; Butch Littlefield and Slim Peaslee, tied second gross 48; Greg Dutch and Mike Marriner, tied first net 38; and Jim Boulier, third net 39.
