Belfast — Belfast Free Library’s summer’s theme is Libraries Rock! A related Summer Lecture Series offers talks on different periods in rock music history, presentations given by two local and experienced music fans.

The series continues Tuesday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m. with a presentation by Ellen Sander on 1960s rock culture. Sander, a noted poet and former Belfast Poet Laureate, was a pioneering New York rock journalist in the mid-late ‘60s, covering the emergent, explosive rock culture, its music, personalities and events. From the festivals to the in-fights, concerts, the tours and the trips, she will speak from her repertoire of behind-the-scenes anecdotes and read from her book, “Trips, Rock Life in the Sixties,” a new edition of which will be published in February.

The series continues Monday, July 30, when Neal Harkness presents on How The Beatles Changed Everything; and Monday, Aug. 20, when his topic is That Sweet Soul Music. The lectures are free and open to the public. For more information, call the library, 106 High St., at 338-3884, ext. 10.
