SeaHorse Stables plans Open Farm Day Oct. 14

Oct 08, 2018

Belfast — This year marks the third anniversary for SeaHorse Stables' IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) program. One of only four teams in the state, SeaHorse Stables’ IEA team includes middle and high school students from Belfast, Mount View, Camden/Rockport, Hampden and Newcastle.

Over the past three years, young riders have traveled throughout New England and brought numerous awards home to the Midcoast.

To help support the team, SeaHorse will host an Open Farm Day at its 324 Belmont Ave. location Sunday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., which will include a live performance by the Sugarbush Band.

In addition to the band, free activities will include face painting and temporary tattoos, fun farm-themed activities and an IEA demonstration at 1 p.m. The team hopes to raise funds by offering lunch for purchase, $5 and $10 pony rides, raffle baskets, and cake walks throughout the day.

The event is free and open to the public, though donations are welcome and greatly appreciated.

Darling’s Ice Cream Truck for a Cause will also make a special appearance during the event.

IEA is a national association organized to promote and improve the quality of equestrian competition. It offers avid equestrians the opportunity to partake in a team sport. Unlike most equestrian competitions, riders do not need to provide their own horse or tack because the host team arranges for the horses and equipment.
