Searsmont — The new Searsmont Fire Station is rapidly taking shape with all exterior walls, roof and bay doors completed. Work has now shifted to the inside of the building where a year-end completion date is anticipated.

Naming opportunities still abound for the station itself, firetruck bays, training room, firetrucks and offices.

Donors can lend their name to the fire station complex for a $100,000 donation.

Firetruck bays can be named for a gift of $50,000 each. For a $25,000 gift, the training room can bear your name, and the firetrucks themselves can be named for donations of $10,000 each.

Also, the offices of the fire chief, emergency services director and emergency management director can be named for a gift of $5,000 each.

All donors' names will be placed on a plaque in the new fire station, according to a recent press release from the Searsmont Fire Department.

"The gifts we are asking for now will allow us to create a state-of-the-art fire station that can meet the needs of Searsmont's growing community for the next 75 years," said Bruce Brierly in a previous Republican Journal article.

"The structure will also incorporate green radiant heat, and wastewater and waste solids recovery systems. It will be solar-array capable."

Tax-deductible donations for the new fire station can be sent to Town of Searsmont, P.O. Box 56, Searsmont, ME 04973.  For more information, contact the Searsmont Town Office at townofsearsmont@fairpoint.net or call 342-5411.
