Town Office

There is a rabies vaccination clinic scheduled at the Appleton Fire Department on January 13th from 10 am to noon, and there is a $12 per-vaccination charge.  Take advantage of these opportunities if your dog needs a rabies update.  All 2017 dog licenses expired on December 31, 2017; and you will need a current rabies vaccination to register your dog.  January is a grace period for registration – no late fees.  On February 1, 2018, late dog registrations incur a $25 per-dog late fee and time flies… so get on in and get it done!

If you would like to file an Abatement request on your 2017 Property Tax Bill, the deadline is January 27, 2018.  Jim Murphy, Assessor Agent, will be in the office on January 23, 2018 and available to answer any questions about your tax assessment.

The Town Office will be closed Monday, January 15, 2018 in honor of Martin Luther King Day.

With the beginning of winter comes the inclement weather.  Please call the Town Office at 342-5411, on “iffy” weather days to verify the office is open before coming on these days or check the website for updates.  Closures are also posted on WLBZ2 and WABI5.

Searsmont Historical Society

Please note!  The January meeting of the Searsmont Historical Society will be held on Thursday, January 11, at 1:30 pm in the historical room (not our usual Wednesday meeting day).  Searsmont resident Sarah Crosby will share her knowledge and research on the meteorite that landed in Searsmont on Sunday, May 21, 1871.  A short business meeting and election of officers will take place following a brief pause for refreshments.  Everyone is invited to attend.
