Town Office

A “found” dog was brought to the Town Office this week, clearly a beloved pet, but with no identifying information or tags.  Please write your phone number in magic marker on the collar so we can call if this happens.  We prefer to return pets to their owners rather than deliver them to the animal shelter, but we have no choice if the owner can’t be identified.  It will save you time, worry, and money.

The Town of Searsmont is accepting bids for Cemetery Lawn Care.  Bid packets are available on the website at or at the Town Office.

Scholarship Applications are now available at the Town Office, Post Office, and online at  The deadline to submit an application is May 31st.   This scholarship is available to Searsmont residents who have completed at least one year of post-secondary education, including trade schools, community colleges, or advanced degrees.

Planning is underway for Searsmont’s Annual Memorial Day Parade.  If you or your organization would like to participate, please call the Town Office and leave your name, organization, and telephone number, and a Planning Committee Member will call you.

There is still time to join the Tax Club.  If paying a large chunk of money at property tax time is difficult, the Tax Club may be an option for you.  Taxes are paid monthly from April 2018 to March 2019, with no interest accruing as long as payments remain current.  Applications are available until April 30th.  The first payment is also due in April.  Call the Town Office for more information at 342-5411, or check the website at

The transfer station demo debris days are May 12th and August 18th, 2018.
