Town Office

The town budget meeting where the selectmen present the proposed budget to the residents is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Searsmont Community Building meeting room.

The Town Office has several archival-quality storage boxes available to residents for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis. The sizes vary: 11.5 to 19 inches wide by 15 to 25 inches long by 2.5 to 5 inches deep. These are acid-free sturdy boxes for $5 each. Stop in at the Town Office to see them, or call to check if we have the size you need.

Searsmont Town Library

Special events abound this month at the library! On Valentine's Day, drop by for sizzling Board Game action at 4 p.m. and a steamy book group discussion of Erik Larson's “The Devil in the White City” at 6 p.m.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m., meet at the library with the Georges River Land Trust for an outdoor family-friendly event. Our adventure leader will be Lisa Kane, presenting "Animals' Amazing Adaptations."

We had a really wonderful group of folks for the first Lite Lunch at the Library on Jan. 25. It was so good to see people sitting, relaxing at the library, and chatting with each other. The next luncheon is on Friday, Feb. 22, at 12:15 p.m. Lunch will be served in the upstairs lobby of the Searsmont Community Center, and coffee will be served in the library following lunch with music, games, puzzles and good conversation. The event is free, and all are welcome to attend.

Searsmont Historical Society

The February meeting of the Searsmont Historical Society will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 1:30 p.m. in the historical room. Please join us for an update on the Georges River Energy LLC, a biomass plant owned and built on Robbins Lumber Co. property in Searsmont. Light refreshments will be served, followed by a short business meeting to include election of officers.
