Swanville — A 15-year-old Searsport boy suffered a leg injury after the track on his sled ripped as he was driving it on Swan Lake late Friday morning, Feb. 22, according to Warden Christopher Dyer with the Maine Warden Service.

Dyer said the incident occurred at 11:15 a.m., as the boy and two other 15-year-old boys from Frankfort were riding on the lake.

The Searsport boy was driving a 2000 Arctic Cat, and Dyer said the track ripped as the boy was riding, sending him off the sled and onto the ice.

The boy was taken via Belfast Ambulance to Waldo County General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Dyer said.

Dyer said Belfast police and firefighters also responded to the scene.

The Warden Service has had a noticeable presence on the lake this season. We here appreciate that.
