Searsport finish on winning note, playoffs on-deck

Corinth — The Searsport girls basketball team wrapped the high school court season on an upward swing, as the Vikings nabbed a point-worthy victory over another playoff-bound team.

Facing Central of Corinth on Wednesday, Feb. 6, the Vikings emerged with a 38-35 road win over the Red Devils and settled into the No. 13 seed in the Class C North field.

Searsport maintained a lead for most of the contest as the visitors held an 11-6 lead after the first quarter, 16-15 at halftime and 28-26 after three quarters.

Makenzie Alley led Searsport with 13 points, while Ashten Wells added 12; Abby Stemp, 10; and Mikaela Alley, three.

Emilee Cohen scored 14 points for Central, while Ali Shaw added eight; Alyse Campbell, seven; and Rachael Smith and Madi Speed, three.

The Vikings were 6-of-12 (50 percent) from the charity stripe, while the Red Devils were 9-of-22 (41 percent).
