Searsport Flings into Fall

Searsport — The town is gearing up for its annual Fling into Fall festivities next weekend. There is sure to be something for everyone.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, from 7 to 9 a.m., there is a Fling into Fall breakfast at the Searsport United Methodist Church, 43 E. Main St., followed by a parade through the center of town from Norris to Mortland streets starting at 11 a.m.

Penobscot Marine Museum will host an all-day Scarecrow/Jack-o-Lantern contest on the museum's front lawn starting at 11 a.m., and craft and community vendors will be setting up shop at the Searsport Fire Station from noon until 4 p.m.

There will be a bounce house park, games and kids' activities on the Public Safety Building lawn from noon until 4 p.m. A face painting booth at the fire station will take place from 1 to 3 p.m.

From 3 to 5 p.m. there will be a chili/chowder contest and musical entertainment featuring Alexis Loring at the fire house, followed by the "Right Amount of Wrong" band from 5 to 8 p.m.

Festivities will wrap up with an "epic" Fling into Fall bonfire at 6:30 p.m.
