Saturday, October 14, starting at 4:30 p.m., there will be a Turkey Supper at the Searsport United Methodist Church. This will consist of a full turkey dinner with dessert.

Saturday, October 14, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Last Night at the Museum – As the Penobscot Marine Museum’s Nightwatch put the museum to bed for the season, the portraits come alive to tell their stories. This is a family friendly and all in good “spirit” event. Tours leave the Visitors Center every 15 minutes and last half an hour. The cost is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children, and $12 for families. Space is limited so please purchase tickets in advance to ensure your space. Carver Memorial Library will be holding STEAM Storytimes twice a month, beginning October 14th. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Our new storytimes—on the second Saturday and the third Thursday of each month—will include art and experiments to further explore each theme. Most appropriate for ages 4-10. Second Saturdays are at 11 am; third Thursdays at 3:30 pm.

Monday, October 16, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Mosman Park Association will hold their annual meeting in the Town Hall. The public is invited.

Monday, October 16, starting at 6:30 p.m., the planning Board will meet in the Town Hall.

The Searsport Elementary fourth and fifth graders are having a Back To Nature Run/Walk to raise money for breast cancer awareness. They welcome family and community members to cheer them on. The one mile run/walk is on Friday, October 20th at 9:30. The students will begin on the SES back playground.

Searsport Ghost Stories" will be the topic of Searsport Town Historian Charlene Knox Farris's talk at the Carver Memorial Library on Tuesday, October 24, at 6:30 PM. Farris will share anecdotes that she has collected from historic news sources, town citizens' stories and personal experiences. Following her talk, Farris will ask audience members who choose to do so to share their own local ghost encounters.

Tuesday, October 17, starting at 7 p.m., the Selectmen will hold their regular meeting in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.

Thursday, October 19, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Historic Preservation Committee will hold their meeting in the Town Hall.

The wrap up meeting for Searsport's Fling Into Fall 2017 will occur on Friday, October 20, at 2:30pm at the Searsport town office. All are welcomed to attend. Thank you.

Baked Bean supper at the North Searsport United Methodist Church, at the corner of Mount Ephraim and the Loop Road. Baked Beans, Chop Suey, Hot Dogs, Cole Slaw, Rolls, Brown Bread, and Pies, supper. Oct.21, 5:00 to 6:30, $8.00 for adults and $ 4.00 for children. The proceeds to benefit the church ministries.

The Searsport Fling Into Fall and Searsport First Congregational Church would like to thank everyone who participated in the Chili and Chowder Cook off. It was a huge success! All the proceeds from the sales of the chili's and chowders went to the Lift UP Searsport wheelchair lift fund. The winners were each given an engraved spoon as the trophy.

Notice to all residents in the Town of Searsport. The complete Town of Searsport real estate and personal property revaluation is now taking place.

If a person comes to your residence and asks to measure and take a photo of your property they are part of the revaluation team and will have a photo ID as such. The revaluation will take place from now until late next spring.

If you have any questions or concerns please call the Town Office 548-6372 or stop by. As of today (10-13-17), they have completed about 1/3 of the field work (property to property). After the first of the year they will be going over all the paperwork, pictures etc. and they should finish up in the late spring.

Veterans Day - Photos Of Veterans

Searsport Schools have joined forces to honor all veterans on November 9th. They are requesting photos of veteran family members to include in a presentation slide show. If you have a photo you would like to share, please send the photo in an envelope with a child to give to their teacher. Please write the veteran's name and your child's name on the back of the photo so that they may return the photo to the correct student.

Please include the veterans name, rank, branch, and year served. You may also include your child's name and how the veteran is related to your child. Digital photos can be emailed to Colleen Johnson at cjohnson@rsu20.org Photos must be submitted by November 1st. If you submitted a photo last year, you do not need to resubmit.
