Here’s what’s happening in Searsport this week.

Easter Dinner takeout

I hope you all have made your reservations for the Kindness Program’s Easter Dinner I mentioned last week. I promised a menu. They are serving baked ham with scalloped potatoes, glazed carrots, green beans almondine, hot cross buns, with mandarin orange cupcakes with pineapple frosting for dessert.

Call Jayne at 407-694-8733 or Sandra at 548-6530 by April 1. Pickup will be at the First Congregational Church of Searsport at 7 Church St. between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Please do not get out of your car; a masked runner will get your name and bring it out to you. As always, the dinner is free, but donations are gladly accepted.

Tax season & preparation extended

As taxes don’t have to be in until May 17 this year, the AARP Foundation’s free tax preparation at the Lion’s Club in Searsport has openings on Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons through May 13. COVID restrictions still apply and no children, please. Two appointments are required, one to drop off materials and one to pick up the finished return. Call Pat at 567-3137 for an appointment.

Reminder: Elections are Tuesday, April 6, at the Searsport Community Center (formerly the Lion’s Club) on Prospect Street, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Town meeting will be held Saturday, April 10, at the Searsport High School gymnasium at 9 a.m.

Penobscot Marine Museum

The fascinating Peek into Paintings series on Facebook continues Friday, April 9, from noon to 1 p.m. They will be exploring Belfast in the 19th century through a lithograph from 1877. Find out what they have to say about the great Belfast fire, acts of treason and whist parties at that time.
