Monday, Sept. 1, the Town Office is closed for Labor Day.

Tuesday, September 2, starting at 7 p.m., the regular meeting of the Selectmen will take place in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.

Sunday, September 7, starting at 2 p.m., Dave Morrison will present Poetry Rocks at WORKS, 21 E. Main Street, Searsport. Poetry Rocks is the poems of Dave Morrison crossing a rope bridge of simple guitar grooves. Poetry Rocks is not songs, and not exactly poems, but a new delivery system for poetry. Each piece is created from scratch for the audience in real time, so that each person has a distinct musical accompaniment. Each reading is unique.

Monday, September 8, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Planning Board will hold their regular monthly meeting in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.

Tuesday, September 9, starting at 7 p.m., the Searsport Historical Society welcomes authors John Ford Sr., Retired Maine Game Warden, and Mark Nickerson, Retired Maine Trooper. Their program, "Blue Lights and Funny Cider," is a raucous and sometimes poignant look at Maine Law Enforcement "back in the day!" As always the Society welcomes the public at no charge. Join them for refreshments and a chance to speak with John and Mark. The books by both authors will be available for sale before and after the program, personalized for you.

Thursday, September 11 (9/11), Searsport Emergency Services and the Lions Club will be holding a Spaghetti Supper from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Lions Club on Prospect Street in Searsport. Cost is by donation and all monies raised will be forwarded to the Wounded Warrior Project. Checks should be made out to Barney Hose Co. FMI Contact Dick Desmarais.

Friday, September 12, from 5 to 7 p.m., Maine Printmakers, an exhibit featuring 5 local printmakers working in a variety of styles and techniques, opens at WORKS, 21 East Main Street with a opening reception for the artist.

Included in this exhibit are: Chris Clarke of Vinalhaven, Jeff Jelenfy of Washington, Madeline Owen of Hope, Karin Otto of Belfast and April White of Union. Monotype, etching, woodblock and mixed media printmaking techniques will be exhibited.

Saturday, September 13, starting at 4:30 p.m., the Searsport United Methodist Church will hold their monthly Turkey Supper with all the trimmings.

Feel free to pass this on to interested people.
