On Tuesday, Dec. 4, starting at 1 p.m., the Searsport fifth-grade classes will attend the regular meeting of the Selectmen in Union Hall. This will be the fourth year they have attended the 1 p.m. meeting. Upon completing what is on the agenda, we will start working on the 2019 budget. On the 11th, we will continue that work starting at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m., Penobscot Bay Singers present "A Child's Christmas in Wales" at the Searsport Congregational Church, a celebration of narration and song for the holiday season.

Dylan Thomas wrote this anecdotal retelling of Christmas from a child's perspective for BBC radio in the 1950s. The Penobscot Bay Singers are using narrative excerpts, read by Jim Rose, along with musical interludes of hymns and carols of the Christmas season. There is a suggested donation of $15. The snow date is Dec. 15.

On Friday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 8, Penobscot Marine Museum presents a Victorian Christmas. Celebrate the season and experience the 19th century sea captain's house decorated for Christmas by local businesses. Shop for holiday gifts and at the mobile museum store at the Fowler House entrance. Make your own Christmas ornament in the Old Vestry.

On Friday evening, revel in additional holiday activities including the town of Searsport's tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. on the museum crescent. Vote for your favorite gingerbread lighthouse, enjoy refreshments in the Old Vestry. Free admission. Call PMM at 548-2529 for more information about the activities and the gingerbread lighthouse competition.

On Monday, Dec. 10, starting at 6:30 p.m., the regular meeting of the Planning Board will take place in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.

On Thursday, Dec. 13, starting at 6:30 p.m., there will be a meeting and update on downtown planning work to take place.

The holiday season is approaching us with many families needing a helping hand. Searsport Helping Kids, a grassroots project, is in need of help — new, unwrapped toys and clothing can be left at the Town Office in Searsport, or call Phyllis at 548-0232 or Sandra at 548-6530.

All checks should be made payable to Town of Searsport and note in memo line "Searsport Helping Kids." All questions can be made to the above numbers. Smiles on children's faces, with your help on Christmas morning!

The Town Offices will be closed Dec. 24 and 25.

Feel free to pass this along to interested people.
