Voters in the four-town Regional School Unit 22 passed Aug. 1 a revised 2017-2018 budget.

All four towns -- Frankfort, Hampden, Newburgh and Winterport -- approved the budget, which totals $30,972,944, by a vote of 397 in favor to 328 opposed. When voters first voted on the budget in June, they rejected it by vote of 637-710, according to previously published reports.

In the time since that vote, the district received about $450,000 more in state aid than it initially anticipated, a portion of which was used to lower assessments to the towns, according to budget documents posted on the district's website.

If the original budget had passed, the towns would have seen local assessments increase 4.39 percent. The revised budget shows an increase of 1.57 percent to the towns.
