Searsport — Thirty-seven graduating seniors from Searsport High School will be honored with a “Senior Wall” display, starting Wednesday, May 20, on the lawn of the Penobscot Marine Museum on Main Street.

Fundraising coordinator Sharon Keach, who is also the parent of Senior Class President Jenna Keach, came up with the idea to show seniors how much the community supports them and celebrate this milestone.

In a conversation with The Republican Journal May 18, Cage’s other daughter, Middle School special education teacher Christin Chase, said three 4-by-8-foot boards will display the names and photographs of all the 2020 graduates.

The members of the class of 2020 include the following: Kevin J. Bell, Erin H. Blake, Ethan Blakesley, Mackenzie A. Bormet, William W. Bradley, Haley C. Braga, Dallas J. Culver-Kroening, Jaylee R. Dakin, Shannen M. Fitzjurls, Jason R. Frazee, Ashley M. Harriman, Jeremy T. Hill, Isaac J. Hosmer, Michael J. Johnson, Nicholas A. Kahriman, Jenna P. Keach, Jon C. Knight, Spencer J. Lavway, Brandon E. Littlefield, Destiny M. Lizotte, Rebekah A. Mellor, Amethyst M. Merithew, Daegan T. Moody, Skylar J. Moody, Cody A. Noyes, Dylan C. O'Brien, Steven J. Perkins, Spencer Philbrook, Holly M. Ploszaj, Gabriel A. Poulin, Harley R. Prucha, Gavin T. Skakle, Colby Snow, Owen C. Soucy, Talon N. Staples, Joseph F. Viggiano and Joshua D. Wilson.

The center board gives community members an area to write well-wishes or notes to the graduating seniors, she said.

One senior, Jeremy Hill, died last November and is honored along with his classmates with the inscription “In memory of.”

The display will be up for several weeks, Chase said, “at least until the original graduation date of June 11.”

The signs will go up Wednesday at 4 p.m. Community members are encouraged to stop by and write a comment or a story about a senior they know for posterity. Chase said she hopes the display will be available for students to view in the coming years.
