The STRAND YOUTH FILM FEST is an opportunity for young people living in Midcoast Maine and surrounding areas to create and submit their own short films! Entry deadline is Oct. 31.

Please note that films can be shot using an iPhone or iPad, and editing using an app such as Storybuilder, DIY doc, Splice, Magisto, Stop Motion Studio, or iMotion.

Educators, parents, and homeschoolers looking for a creative project may wish to use this filmmaking competition as a curriculum tool. Strand Education Coordinator Brittany Parker is available to help plan a film project that can tie into any curriculum. Brittany can be contacted at Students can then enter their creations for a chance to win prizes and have their work seen by the community.

Awards and a public presentation of the films (virtual or in-person, if possible) will take place in the fall of 2020. Prizes will be awarded from a panel of judges, made up of Strand staff and local film professionals.

Looking for a new creative outlet? Want to start a fun fall project? Interested in joining the ranks of other great films presented by the Strand?
