Slide talk Jan. 9: Animal survival strategies in winter

Belfast — Friends of Sears Island and the Belfast Free Library will co-sponsor a presentation titled "Winter is Coming! How Animals Prepare and Interesting Survival Strategies,” by Sandra Mitchell on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the library,106 High St.

Did you know that some dragonfly species migrate like birds, that wood frogs freeze solid for the winter, or that multiple species of snakes will often hibernate together? Mitchell will discuss the fascinating ways different animals have adapted to survive the winter.

A registered Maine guide, Mitchell is an avid amateur naturalist. She is a certified CyberTracker, and enjoys investigating natural mysteries. Her website is wildlynxnature.com/.

This free event will take place in the library's Abbott Room. All are welcome.
