Rockland — March Madness is upon us, and with that, millions of self-proclaimed “Bracketologists” are filling out their brackets for the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I men’s basketball tournament.

And we in the sports department at Courier Publications are looking for your expertise as we unveil our VillageSoup Bracket Challenge.

To sign up, prospective players are asked to click the link below to cbssports.com (you can use your active cbssports.com ID, or it takes only a minute to sign-up for one) and fill out your bracket by noon on Thursday, March 21.

Then, you can match your bracket knowledge against Sports Director Ken Waltz, Associate Sports Director Mark Haskell, Sports Reporter Zack Miller and Sports Assistant Holly Vanorse-Spicer and many others throughout the Midcoast and beyond.

Have someone in mind who you would like to have in the fold as well? We encourage you to share this story on your Facebook wall and tag other prospective “Bracketologists” and get them in the mix as well.

The more local participation, the better!

Haskell and Miller will break down the brackets on their weekly online video sports show "The Press Box" and run through the names of the top point scorers each week until the national championship game on Monday, April 8.

The top point scorer at the end of the NCAA tournament will win a free year's subscription to knox.villagesoup.com or waldo.villagesoup.com.

Courier Publications' sports staff can be reached by email at sports@villagesoup.com or by phone at 594-4401.
