Belfast — The Peace and Justice Group of Waldo County invites the community to its annual Solstice Potluck and film screening Wednesday, June 20, in the Abbott Room of Belfast Free Library, 106 High St. The potluck will start at 5:30 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. by the inspirational film "Awake, A Dream from Standing Rock" (2017, USA).

The Water Protectors at Standing Rock captured world attention through their peaceful resistance. While many may know the details, "Awake, A Dream from Standing Rock" captures the story of Native-led defiance that forever changed the fight for clean water, our environment and the future of our planet. The film is a collaboration between indigenous filmmakers director Myron Dewey, Executive Producer Doug Good Feather and environmental Oscar-nominated filmmakers Josh Fox (“GasLand”) and James Spirone.

Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. The screening is free, but contributions to the Indigenous Media Fund and the Pipeline Fighters Fund will be gratefully accepted. All are welcome. For more information, visit peaceandjusticewaldocounty.wordpress.com.
