Dean Stevens

Belfast — Singer/songwriter and Central American traveler Dean Stevens will present a benefit concert Friday, April 20, at 7 p.m., at St. Francis Church, 81 Court St., with friends, including David Dodson of Camden. All ticket proceeds will benefit the community of San Ramón in El Salvador.

St. Brendan's Parish, which includes St. Francis, St. Bernard's in Rockland and Our Lady of Good Hope in Camden, supports San Ramón residents with funds for clean-water tanks, latrines for sanitation, roofing material for dry housing and support for education and small businesses through a micro-finance project. In addition to great songs and guitar mastery, Stevens will be selling “the world’s best coffee” from Izotalillo, an El Salvadoran community he is affiliated with, as well as Central American crafts.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for what promises to be a lively evening. Suggested donation tickets are $15 or whatever one can afford. For more information, contact Mary Kate Small at 236-2794 or marykatespeace@yahoo.com.
