Town Office

The town office is closed for a minimum of two weeks. All boards and committees are canceled. The Public Works department will operate as usual and the use of trash stickers is waived until the end of March.

E-Waste day on Saturday, March 28, is canceled. If your vehicle registration is due, you may register it online. Donation bins for the food pantry or pet food will be placed on the front porch at the Town Office from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday. I am not sure about Recycling Day on March 26, so please contact the town manager at prior to Thursday to find out.

Stockton Springs Community Library

The library is closed until March 30. All events are cancelled. The Tai chi classes are canceled.

The Hichborn is closed. Just Barb's is offering takeout meals. Stone Fox ice cream is taking over the old Red Kettle antiques building on Route 1.

The coronavirus is everyone's main concern today. Life has changed for everybody so stay safe and even young people should stay quarantined.

I took a walk at the Ft. Point lighthouse the other day; please go out and take a walk outdoors. A smaller motor boat was in the harbor recently with both a black dog and diver on board along with the boat's skipper. Lots of robins are on the lawn and the mourning doves come on my deck to keep me company each morning.

So far it seems we are getting warmer weather and spring is officially here. My daffodils have poked their way up. The outdoors isn't closed and Maine is still the most beautiful of states in my humble opinion.

Thought for the week: "Words, like nature, half reveal and half conceal the soul within." — Alfred Lord Tennyson.
