Straight drive: Belfast sweeps tri-match to maintain undefeated start

Lions improve to 6-0 with additional impressive play

Northport — The Belfast golf team has ridden high to start the high school course campaign.

The Lions (6-0) have prowled through six matches, with each result another notch in the win column.

The latest victories came against Maranacook of Readfield and Morse of Bath, as Belfast beat the Black Bears 6-3 and Shipbuilders 8-1 on Monday, Sept. 9 in tri-match.

The following is a recap of the matches:

Belfast 6, Maranacook 3

At Northport Golf Club Sept. 9, the Lions caged the Black Bears. Belfast finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 177 to 200 for Maranacook.

The individual Belfast results, with Lion golfers listed first, were: Tommy Parker (39) beat Corbin Howe (54); James Ritter (38) beat Collin McGarr (56); Tommy Walker (46) beat Alex Trafton (53); Zach Sanderson (62) lost to Thomas Trafton (53); Lilly Robbins (63) lost to Thomas Thornton (46); and Hagan Chase (54) lost to Max Thamert (48).

Ritter shot 38 to earn medalist honors.

Belfast 8, Morse 1

At Northport Golf Club Sept. 9, the Lions made quick work of the Shipbuilders. Belfast finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 177 to 223 for Morse.

The individual Belfast results, with Lion golfers listed first, were: Tommy Parker (39) beat Wade Bradford (48); James Ritter (38) beat Gaige Kindlimann (54); Tommy Walker (46) beat Tanner Hennin (59); Zach Sanderson (62) beat Zoe Sreden (83); Lilly Robbins (63) lost to Wyatt Wallace-Craney (61); and Hagen Chase (54) beat Spencer Dahman (64).

Ritter shot 38 to earn medalist honors.
