Boothbay Harbor — The hours are counting down for entering the ninth annual Maine Photography Show; deadline is midnight Friday, Jan. 24. Although the number of entries are ahead of last year at this time, show chairman Bruce Burnham, said he is worried photographers who have entered before might think they have more time.

"We've adjusted the submission timetable to accommodate our judge's availability this year and the deadline is earlier than what it has been in the past," he said.

The juror for MPS 2014 is the internationally acclaimed Canadian nature photographer, gardener and writer Freeman Patterson. Any Maine photographer can enter up to three images in any combination of the show's three categories; Color; Black and White; and Special Theme — Flowers. Submissions, entry fees and photos for judging must be received no later than the midnight Friday. For information concerning sizing, submission and to secure an official entry form, visit or contact Burnham at 380-1863 or sponsor Boothbay Region Art Foundation at 633-2703.

The Maine Photography Show awards cash prizes to the first four places in each category and a Best of Show. The MPS 2014 exhibition will run April 12 through May 12 at the downtown Boothbay Region Art Foundation gallery.
