Lincolnville — The 13th annual Dip 4 Derek took place at noon, Jan. 1, at Lincolnville Beach. Each year on New Year's Day, hardy souls take the plunge into Penobscot Bay to benefit Derek O'Brien, who suffered a spinal injury in a 2005 swimming accident. O'Brien was on hand to personally support and thank everyone who took the dip, as well as their support teams. For more information on Dip 4 Derek and how to contribute, call Peter Roper at 236-0074.
