Searsport Historical Society, Curtis Hall, First Congregational Church of Searsport. Speaker: Belfast Historical Society president Megan Pinette. Light refreshments and discussion follow. Free; all welcome.

The First Church in Belfast celebrates the 200th anniversary of the building of the sanctuary this year. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 and is listed as one of Maine’s finest examples of Federal Style architecture.

In addition to its architectural significance, other historic features of note include the Paul Revere and Son bell, installed in the belfry in 1819; the town clock, built by two Belfast clockmakers, Phineas P. Quimby and Timothy Chase, installed in 1836; and the Stevens tracker organ, the second organ purchased by the congregation, installed in 1848.
