Talk Oct. 4: Communicating wishes for end of life

Oct 01, 2018

Belfast — Have you ever wondered what would happen if you ended up in the hospital and couldn’t communicate? Would your family know if you’d want to be hooked up to a ventilator with a feeding tube?

What if you one of your parents, your spouse or child ended up in that situation? Would you know their wishes for how they would want you to proceed? Would they want everything done to keep them alive even if they had extensive brain damage and were unlikely to ever regain consciousness?

On Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m., Laura Bickford, a longtime registered nurse at Pen Bay Medical Center, will discuss how to communicate one’s wishes for the end of life. Having that conversation with one's family and filling out advance directives can make the decisions easier to make on such an emotional time.

The public is welcome to attend the presentation at First Baptist Church, 93 High St.
