Belfast — This month’s teachers-themed selections in Belfast Free Library’s Friday Night Flix film series conclude June 22 with “The Class” (2008, France). The movies are free and screen at 7 p.m. in the Abbott Room of Belfast Free Library, 106 High St.

“The Class” is based on the French-language memoir written by former teacher François Bégaudeau, who plays himself in this film. Bégaudeau's experience was at a racially mixed inner city high school in Paris; he also had some of his former students portray themselves in this compelling look at modern urban education — where the students are often one step ahead of the teacher in understanding their world. The PG-13 rated film runs 128 minutes and is screened in French, with subtitles.
