The Thorndike Fire Department wishes to thank everyone that helped make their yard sale a success. Much to my surprise, I won the 50-50 raffle.

Dustin enjoyed a day at camp recently with his friends from Massachusetts, Sean, Erin and family. He can't wait until it is time to do it again.

Logan Blood was guest of honor at a baby shower recently. It was a fun event with fabulous decorations and tasty refreshments. Logan received many terrific gifts and gift cards. I can't wait to meet my great-grandson, Grayson Austin Jae Grant.

The next supper sponsored by the Knox Station Grange will be Saturday, Aug. 19. The menu will consist of roast beef and all the fixings. Please support your local grange. They will start serving at 4:30 p.m. and go until 6 p.m.

The Maine Ax and Saw Day will be held at the MOFGA's Common Ground Education Center Aug. 19, all day, beginning at 10 a.m., with gates opening at 9:30 a.m. Admission is $5 per person; children will be free. This event seeks to have people learn about Maine hand tool manufacturers' role in the logging industry and will provide guided instruction in the use of many of these tools. A hands-on-handles day, for folks that can handle that.

Woody Guthrie is quoted as saying, "Music is some kind of electricity that makes a radio out of a man."
