The Common Ground Fair has come and gone once again. I believe that Friday was the largest one-day attendance ever. It certainly seemed like it from my vantage point.

I have most of my firewood in and stacked. George Ward, you did a great job.

The next meeting of the Thorndike Ladies Auxiliary will be October 10th, 6:30 p.m. at the fire house. New members are always welcome.

There will be a free rabies clinic for Waldo County residents on Saturday, October 7th, 9 to 11 a.m, at the Brooks Fire Station.

Sympathy is being extended to the family and friends of Alesha Woods Oliver. Rest in peace, Alesha.

Irving Kristol was quoted as saying, "If you believe that no one was ever corrupted by a book, you have also to believe that no one was ever improved by a book."

The weather is taking a turn for the cooler. I rather enjoyed the warmer version. Oh, well, all good things must come to an end.

Thank you, Seth and Derek, for all your help last weekend. It was much appreciated.

Have a great week and remember to get your news items to me by Thursday noon.
