Get well wishes are being sent to Laura Stewart. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Congratulations to the Jackson Food Pantry on being awarded $5,000 from Bangor Savings Bank Foundation's 2018 Community Matters More campaign. The pantry works very hard to have ample food for all their clients.

I am sending get well wishes to Steve Langeluttig. I hope you are up and about real soon.

The Thorndike Volunteer Fire Department meets on Monday nights, 7 p.m. They have a good group now, but are always seeking new members. Stop by on a Monday evening if you are interested in becoming a member. They are noted for having good refreshments at times.

Also, a speedy recovery is being sent to Merrily Stevenson, after the fall she took a few days ago.

When you receive a solicitation, either by phone or in the mail, please check to see how much of your donation actually goes to help the cause. It is quite an eye-opening experience. A lot of the time 15 percent or less actually goes to help someone.

Agatha Christie was once quoted as saying, "An archeologist is the best husband any woman can get. The older she gets, the more interested he is in her."

I have had my first dandelion greens of the season and they were very good. Now on to get some fiddleheads.

Have a great week and get your news items to me by Thursday evening.
