Thorndike column

I saw a notice in a local paper announcing the death of Stanley W. Cole Sr. in Clearwater, Florida. He was a co-owner of McCorrison-Cole Pontiac in Thorndike for 20 years. He is survived by his son, Stanley (Sonny) W. Cole Jr. and daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. That was a booming business many years ago. Rest in peace, Stanley.

I had a nice visit with Helen Sahadi recently. She was driving by and saw me in the yard and stopped for a visit. She is always a great conversationalist and lots of fun.

There is a yard sale scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, on Route 220, Thorndike village, beginning at 8 a.m. Lots of stuff and will be priced to sell. Small furniture, bric-a-brac, kitchen items, nice clothes for the working woman in small sizes, books, tools and more.

Common Ground Fair is fast approaching, Sept. 21-23, with gates open at 9 a.m. This is when we all use the back roads.

Oscar Wilde is quoted as saying, "Fashion is what one wears oneself. What is unfashionable is what other people wear."

Have a great week and enjoy all of what nature has to offer.
